Leader Wilk Announces Changes in Republican Leadership Roles

Senate Republican Leader Scott Wilk (R-Santa Clarita) announces that Senator Brian W. Jones (Santee) will succeed Senator Patricia Bates (Laguna Niguel), who will term out of office at the end of the year, as the new Republican Caucus Chair. Senator Bates has served as Caucus Chair for the past year.

“Thank you to Senator Patricia Bates for serving as the Republican Caucus Chair this last year,” said Senate Republican Leader Wilk. “Her leadership on ACT, the 2022 Republican Homelessness Legislative package, was unparalleled. As a former social worker, Pat has an innate understanding and compassion for struggling Californians, and I am very thankful for her advice and friendship. No doubt she will continue to fight the good fight for all Californians.”

“It has been an honor to serve as the Senate Republican Caucus Chair,” said Senator Bates. “Senator Jones will do a great job, and I look forward to working with him and Senator Wilk to strengthen our state for all Californians.”

Wilk continued, “Congratulations to Senator Brian Jones on his new role as Senate Republican Caucus Chair. I look forward to working with him on our priorities and crafting policies that prioritize the needs of Californians. Brian tirelessly advocates for the little guy, and I have no doubt he will bring that same passion and vision to our caucus. Congratulations, Senator Jones.”

“Pat Bates has been an outstanding Caucus Chair who has served our Members and the Senate well,” stated Senator Jones. “I am honored to be chosen as the new Caucus Chair and look forward to again being part of the day-to-day management of our Caucus.”
